As for the sequel, I really don't want to see Khan. I don't want retreads or remakes. I want original stories. Star Trek movies have the problem of always having to put earth in jeopardy to make a good film, otherwise it doesn't seem epic to the producers. They need to take a page from Avatar and learn to create an amazing universe worthy of boldly going into.
This is really tiring:
Star Trek the Motion Picture - V'Ger threatens Earth
Star Trek II - Khan gets the Genesis Device which can threaten Earth
Star Trek IV - Alien Whale Probe threatens Earth
Star Trek First Contact - Borg attack threatens Earth
Star Trek Nemesis - Shinzon plots to threaten Earth
Star Trek - Nero threatens Earth

Avatar was the same thing, only instead of the Earth being threatened we were drawn to the Navi and it was their homeworld being threatened
