Quite a bit of speculation coming out of Philadelphia that McNabb and Westbrook have possibly played their last games as Eagles. The speculation about McNabb is an annual tradition, but this year it seems to have a bit more momentum behind it, and it's more based on steps the organization has taken than just local opinion. All three of the Eagles quarterbacks (McNabb, Vick, and Kolb) are only under contract until the end of the 2010 season.

It's been very similar results for the Eagles for 11 years now, and I thought going into this year that something out of the McNabb/Reid combo would need to be changed if they couldn't get it done this year. I'd thought Reid should go, but the organization decided to extend him. The Eagles front office basically put the writing on the wall when they extended Reid but only gave Donovan a raise.

McNabb is probably my favourite player, but it makes sense to look into trading him at this point, unless Reid and company believe the Eagles have a legitimate shot at winning the Super Bowl next year. This team has a lot of holes that need to be filled, and trading McNabb could give them the pieces to fill those holes. Kolb showed signs that he can be a starter in the NFL, and the Eagles have been able to win without Donovan in the past (see: Kolb 2009, Garcia 2006, Feely/Detmer 2003). It would be terrible asset management to produce similar results next season and then have Donovan leave for nothing in 2011.
