I have an asian friend who always eats with her mouth open. It's kind of annoying and when my friends talked to her about it, she said that it was an asian custom, a way of telling the chef the food is good and appreciated, or something along those lines. Is that true or is she making stuff up?

LOL...how shall I answer this...hmm...
Generally, asians are messy eaters. A banquet with a 12 course meal will cause a lot of slurping and messy spillage. I do know that the japanese drink their soup loudly to show appreciation for the meal. Chinese do eat with their mouths open, but I've never heard of it being appreciative of the chefs cooking...though it is highly possible that may be the case. However, I have been repremended by my parents for eating with my mouth open...and I have been scolded for sticking chopsticks into the ricebowl and leaving them there (looks like incense for the dead or something). Even though it may be culturally accepting, she should learn to eat with her mouth closed. She is afterall, in Canada lol.
P.S. Tell her guys don't find that "HOT" in a girl. Maybe that'll get her to stop.
