It doesn't really work that way. Guns unlock when you rise in level. Even if you get 1 kill per match, the game still gives you points for a whole bunch of different things. Also, the more you use a gun, the more attachments you unlock that make it better. Just because someone is using a gun that you only become available at lvl 40, doesn't make it immediately better than a low level gun that has attachments to it (ie a red dot sight)
My advice, find a weapon that you are really comfortable with, and keep using it. With every kill, it gets closer to unlocking an assortments of gadgets for it that will make things easier.
The game has a steep learning curve and it can be frustrating at first, but after awhile, you will learn the maps and where people tend to fight. You'll get better.
