3) No. I read somewhere that after the war they found that the Germans were way off track. They were actually a full 5-10 year behind. The rocket technology would have been enough to threaten North America.

Iceland?
700 miles or so of beautiful North Atlantic sea, Hitlers subs would have picked them off with ease and thats if the Allies could even get their troops set up in Iceland in the first place. As soon as Hitler would have got a clue what they were up too he would have set up shop on the Faroe Islands and bombed the hell out of them before they even left Iceland.
2) Agreed for the 1940's but todays tech not so much, B-2's can leave South Carolina, bomb Iraq and return home without landing.
3) Conflicting reports on how close they really were, some reports say they actually detonated a "dirty" bomb as far back as 1943 but then the development place was flattened by allied bombings.
And Einstein was very worried how close they were. Just be glad we'll never know!
