Its always a interesting question of what would have happened if Germany had successfully invaded Britain and focused on securing the Western front instead of pursuing a foolhardy invasion of the Soviet Union.

What was one of the biggest blunders of the war was the change in focus of the air war from eliminating the British Air Force and destroying England's defenses to terror bombing that only hardened British Resolve.

Conventional wisdom would point out that if Britain would have fallen the German's would have eventually fallen as the American's and Canadians would have focused more Africa and the mass D Day invasion would have taken place from a Southern perspective with Italy still being the weak point.

The American's probably would have been forced to use the Atomic Bomb on Berlin first where they would hope to cut off the head of the German Snake.

If the German's wouldn't have invaded Russian when they did, I have no doubt in my mind that Stalin would have gone after Hitler once the Allies had invaded through Italy.

The American's would have probably focused more strongly on Japan and the Liberation of China. a naval blockade of Japan followed by a land based invasion through Japan would have eventually worn out the Japanese Imperial Military and given America much needed near to Japan Air bases. Japan would have probably been hit with the same type of air power as Germany had. The firebombings in Europe and the whole sale destruction of Germany's industrial base might have taken place in Japan instead.

Stalin might have focused on Japan first and the iron curtain that we saw at the end of the war might have had a more Asiatic look in feel with Germany not being the split point in Europe due to the use of an atomic bomb on Berlin.

The resistance in Britain to German rule would have probably been several times more potent then the vipers nest in France as well, I doubt that the German's would have been able to subdue the population in Britain.

In summary the end of the war would have probably ended in Japan earlier with a blockade, a mass bombing campaign through China, two Island hopping Campaigns with the American's on one side and the Russians on the other with the infamous handshake between American's and Russians in Japan. The American's would also have pushed back the Japanese through China. The Iron Curtain would have taken place in Japan with the revolution in China not taking place until much later because of the American presence there.

The D Day invasion would have gone through Italy with Convoys shifting from Europe to the African Continent. The Americans would have been forced to deploy the Nuclear weapons in Berlin. The German's focusing on the Western Front would have been stabbed in the back by Stalin and the German's would face allied armies through the south and Russian's from the east that would have eventually worn down the German war machine. WWII would have lasted several more years then it did.

Just my theories.
