I think it is very unlikely that wolves appear in Calgary.

More likely, coyotes and domestic dogs are being mis-identified.

There was a pack in the Bow Valley that was reportedly decimated. There are sometimes reports of Wolves in the Rockies in SW Alberta. I have seen and heard wolves up the Clearwater River, and I saw one in Kootenay Park this summer. They are much bigger than coyotes, and you would not have much doubt if you saw one.

Gray wolves (Canis lupus) naturally recolonized the Bow River Valley of Banff National Park in the mid 1980's. However, research showed high levels of human activity prevented wolves from moving between critical habitats within the Bow Valley.
