Stupid story --> Great another metaphor about how bad white people are for ruining the natives culture. LAME. Also very cheesy and almost cartoonish.
3D sucked --> It was cool for about 3 minutes when he was in the chamber at the beginning with the bubbles but then it got really annoying cause whenever they moved quick it just got really blurry and hard to watch
Detached from Characters --> Really didn't feel any connection with the characters what so ever, only sort of emotion I experienced was a strange urge to see the alien chick naked-er, which I didn't know how to react to.
I give it a 5/10. All the points are for the visuals, which I'm sure if it were in normal film, would've been spectacular. Also some points for the 3D when there wasn't rapid movement going as the depth of field did make it seem cool.

To each their own. Not everyone will like what Avatar has to offer.
Thankfully this seems to be limited to about 17% of reviewers and 10% of movie-buffs (citing Rotten Tomatoes).
