Edit: I should also add, even though its quite obvious, spinning a ball on the same flat surface (pool table) is childs play compared to spinning a golf ball in conditions that will ALWAYS change. On the pool table you always know what you get. You'll never get the same lie in golf.

My point was more that pool is not a sport. I don't think golf is either, really. You can play a game competitively without it being a sport.
If golf is a sport, so is bocce.
