I'm glad you posted this cause I was about to jump in and say that there's no way Sunday was the coldest day in over a century. I can think of about 3 others that were worse. I remember even hearing about a day that was unofficially the coldest because the wind chill (gusting blizzard conditions) put it in the high -50's. Like I said, that's not an official temp, because they don't count that. But I do know we've had colder says than Sunday.
