My intention was to show temperature is related to both. The mantra "weather is not climate" is used to disregard temperatures that don't fit with climate warming. If the temperature was breaking records for warmest on record it would be sited as another proof of global warming. Yet that's not what is happening.
The fact still remains that global temperatures have cooled since the 98 high and no one predicted it in their climate change models. This has occurred even though carbon dioxide emissions have increased every year. It would be irresponsible for any government to trust large chunks of their wealth to science that is unproven. Proof would consist of climate change models that predicted temperature changes accurately.
The next fall back argument is that we can't afford to take the risk of doing nothing in case these current models turn out to be right. Of course that argument ignores the severe consequences that making the changes they say are required will have to our society. It's like having open heart surgery for a heart ailment that might or might not be a health hazard in the future if left alone.
