The thing is when you go through 58 minutes and nothing "effed" has happened yet, the ending is a little layed out there for you. I pretty much figured it out immediately. I totally would have been shocked too because every Dexter season ends with that music and him talking about himself. I'm conditioned to not get excited for the final Dexter scene of the season.
I apologize for coming off like a gigantic whiner, it just gets to me so much. I know I'm not normal, so no need to point out the obvious. I was just so close to not knowing anything.

To be fair, all I had read was the Meth post that the ending was more cliffhanger than it was all neatly wrapped up so I was expecting something. That being said when Dexter got home and heard the message that she had stopped at home I knew right then and there.
That totally didn't change how completely and utterly effed up it was for me. I just couldn't believe it. One of those things I was hoping I was just dreaming and I'd wake up and the outcome would be different.
Just goes to show how intense this season was. I'm very rarely THAT into a show that I actually start flipping out because someone died.
Anyway, I hope the episode wasn't ruined or anything because that certainly was a shocker of an ending.
