Eric Coles's tenure in St. Louis was a short one. After hearing that the Flames had interest in Cole, the Blues initiated talks and got a deal done. Going to Calgary is Cole and a suitcase full of cash. Coming back is veteran winger Mike Grier and prospect Jamie Arniel.

Cole proved nothing to us in his first game with the Blues...and we realized that we had enough scoring and needed a bit more defense in the line up. Sure Grier is getting outscored in the CPHL...but he's healthy in the NHL and putting up points. He's also signed to a reasonable contract for another season. His grit and leadership will be a welcome addition to the locker room
