The receptionist at my work was having stomach issues for months when they finally found her gallstones. She had her gall bladder removed the Friday after Thanksgiving and was back at work the following Wednesday. She had mild discomfort from her three small incision holes, which were closed with glue, not stitches. She took her pain medication for that and felt more tired than usual that first week after, but other than that she was doing fine. The next week she was back to her old self. There are foods that bother her and she finds them through trial and error. She has determined that right now she can not eat any cheese and avoids most dairy products as most dairy doesn't agree with her right now. She's only three weeks out from surgery though so that could easily change down the road.

I have (at least) four gallstones the size of golf balls. They were detected over ten years ago. Because of where they're located, my gall bladder and bile duct area function fine. If they do start bothering me, my gall bladder will have to go because they're too large to blast. I'm OK with that when the time comes.
