I just eat moderate amounts of food and what I do eat is healthy. Run when I can. This Victoria weather is too damn cold for me to run in and exams are in full swing so my excuse is that I'm eating lots to hibernate for the winter.
My budget is about 30-40 bucks a week for food so I just buy veggies and roast them. Make my own marinara sauce when tomatoes go on sale..etc
You could swing by the Ian Stewart center, get a membership and get some good mentoring on fitness HOOT
