Look at the long break for Lost a show that has a billion micro story lines. Chances are that first episode is going to sound like
"Who the frack is that guy"
"What the hell is going on"
"Where the hell did that come from"
"Have they answered the crap about the three toes yet, I don't remember"
Time away from a show doesn't make me more excited about it coming back, especially if something better comes on in the meantime.

I think more shows are doing it, and doing it on purpose to try and get a few more sales for their DVD packages that seem be released almost immediately. There are so few TV shows that I watch regularly now because of this.
