Your points may be true, but that is not what happened in the trial. The DNA found on the knife were things like flakes of dead dry skin and such. This type of DNA is everywhere in someone's house. The defense claims the prosecution simply searched each knife for DNA and landed on that one. Most of your house has that type of DNA basically everywhere. They never found the weapon used in the crime, in fact they said the knife in question might have been used in some part of the crime but they did not state the knife was 'the knife'.

Countries like Canada do not use that type of DNA for crime fighting, they use things like larger visible drops of blood. This case gives a very good reason why.
