Keep in mind, when the Jets relocated to Phoenix, I think every canadian NHL team was losing money (with the exception of Toronto and Montreal).
Edmonton was barely averaging 12,000 fans/game, and it's a miracle they didn't move to Houston in 1997. Calgary and Ottawa in the red, and averaging 4,000 empty seats each game. Even Vancouver was losing money.
I just find it amazing that people are so quick to criticize the NHL return to Winnipeg, when we were all in the same boat in the mid 1990's.
