What are you talking about? There is no expert that said it was the knife. I think you are confused. They found her DNA on a knife along with his. They probably tested every knife in the house for that combo, and found one. They claimed it 'could' be the knife, they never said it was the knife.
The truth is that someone broke in a window and likely used that or some smaller type of blade to kill her.
Plus, the so called expert that testified for the prosecution works for the prosecution, this was not some independent analysis completed.
