While a good manager can extract more success from a team than usual, they are still limited by the maximum 'theoretical' capacity of the tools they have at their disposal. Being a supporter of Charlton Athletic I'm quite aware of this fact as we had a brilliant manager in Curbishly who elevated us to the status of a mid-table premiership club but eventually left as this is as far as we could go with our budget. The reason why I'm bring this is up is because I believe that with Australia Hiddink had better quality players than does Canada. Players like Kewell and Viduka may not be superstars but they are household names and they are supported by players like Cahill and Schwarzer, names that football fans will recognize and at least have heard once or twice before.

Nonetheless, quality leadership is needed at all levels in Canada and the MNT is no exception. Personally, I think before we go out and get World class managers we should get one that can take the time to start the time-consuming reform our system so badly needs. Then again, didn't Hiddink do this in South Korea? Maybe we need to steal him from the Ruskies!

Hiddink is a Bona Fide Architect of the game. And stealing him from the Ruskies isnt a bad idea, especially now since they didnt make the World Cup so his services may be available.
