The world your parents (and mine) grew up in was surely a different time, but that doesn't neccessarily make it right. You were also probably looked down upon if you got divorced, were homosexual, had an interracial marriage, etc. Maybe society is just getting used to reality now.

It may not make it right but people were held accountable for thier actions more than they are today. Society has come around in regards to homosexuality and interrracial marriage - which is good. As for divorce it's too readily available that I often wonder if it causes people to not take marriage seriously. I somehow think if it was hard to get people might rethink the reasons they have for getting married.

Also, people often get married for the wrong reasons and become caught in a life they are unhappy with. Or they are happy at the time of marriage and then it goes down hill. No one can tell the future. Cheating probably isn't the best solution, but is likely a symptom of the problem.

Of course no one can tell the future. However if you're not happy in your marriage get some counseling to make it work or get out of it all together. My sisters ex admited after the divorce he was unhappy for many years but didn't have the balls to admit things were not going well so he chose to have affairs with other women.

A good friend of mine got married too early and they both soon realised that. They made attempts to make it work and when it didn't, they got a divorce and went thier seperate ways. No hard feelings on either side.

Add to that the fact that men are hard wired to think with our units..and I say that in all seriousness...we are bound to have cheaters. Our natural instincts are to reproduce, and reproduce a lot. Man (and woman) is in a constant battle with that instinct and trying to manage it within our social norms. What tiger woods has done is nothing new, and he wont be the last person to have done it either. He's just got a high profile.

We may be hard wired to think with our units but that can be controled. Countless people in this world live thier lives without having affairs.
