Good points, and I think you're right that if the Taliban would return to power, there would be a clamping down on the drug trade. I don't really consider it a fait accompli that withdrawing from Afghanistan now will result in a return to a Taliban government though. I'd expect it would be a decade if not more of the Taliban, the tribal warlords, and the current government all having control of various parts of the country, with each of them shifting allegiances and trying to curry favour with external powers, much as there is now, but with more civilian casualties and less control.
