I think the new silent code is something to do with the alarm system pin pad. I had a similar experience when a co-worker told me there was a police officer hanging around my car. So I walk out to see what's up...
Rewind about half an hour, I had just found out, officially from my doctor, that I was going to be a father for the first time. I switched cars with my wife for a reason that I cannot remember at this time. But needless to say, I was quite elated, and shocked that a cop was checking out my wifes car.
So I get about 10 feet from the car...
"Is there a problem there, officer?"
"Stay right there" (hand on the top of his gun)
"Excuse me?"
This is when he walks up to me, and I see squad cars patrolling the area.
"We got a distress signal, is everything OK in there?"
I proceed to tell him everything looked normal. They go into the branch, walk around, look in every room. Talked to them about what had happened, and I guess one of the people set their alarm code 1 number off of the distress signal, and slipped their finger.
Not sure if it cost the branch anything.
