Kind of off topic, but do Canadian carriers still charge you for roaming if you go to say Vancouver?

I always hated that. I'm with verizon in the States and for an extra $10 a month I can go anywhere in Canada, or call anywhere in Canada, without getting roaming or long distance. The cellular market in Canada is truly a joke.
