I just turned 23
I drive a '90 Civic hatchback ... I had a ticket when I was 18 and an accident when I was 20 no one was injured but there were damages insurance had to cover the accident was my fault
last year before the insurance breaks they were asking $5800 for my insurance needless to say my car stayed parked that year.. I still ended up paying about $1200 as a secondary driver on my parents cars
Now i'm paying about $1800 a year.. but my car is not insured just the people in it and anyone i get in an accident with ( is that called 3rd party? i can't remember)
I would say $1800 is about right considering you are a male (i'm assuming) in your 20's .. once you hit 25 the insurance will drop
I would make sure they you are able to register a 3rd car under your parents name I was under the impression that each person is only allowed to have one car registered as their primary vechicle ( for example if you have 3 cars and 3 people insured all 3 have to be primary drivers but a 4 driver can be secondary on all the cars) .. but i'm not 100% on that
