I think law enforcement knows those things and when they start piling up charges it's because they have evidence to back it up.
But you are correct that right now the accused are innocent until proven guilty and there can be false accusations/memories (even if the accusers don't know they are false). Unfortunately the real cases and real accusations far outweigh the accusations that stem from created memories.
Until the investigation is quite a bit older and they start wrapping things up they also won't talk about the evidence they have. Especially if the crimes are far reaching and they are looking for more perpetrators and victims. They will keep many key pieces of evidence secret to prove or disprove anyone coming forward. At the very least one of the accused seems to have had a child porn collection.
