Something doesn't fit and it seems out of context/character for Trinity to get his son to do his bidding... trinity may have a lot of issues and may abuse/control his family, but I think that's a long way from using his son as a hired hand (although I do give the theory merit).
I think Lundy recognized the reporter after she (or her paper) did that piece on him returning to Miami to hunt for Trinity. I think she shot him and wounded Debra in a desperate attempt to further her career. It's not as sexy as Trinity's son, but I think it fits better.

Get a story is a pretty weak motive for a Non-Killer to turn Killer. All of the other main killers in this show have had a slow development leading to them becomin killers. Season two being a good example. I agree with flip if the reporters the killer this season would be as bad as true bloods whole Manant plot.
