A lot of my HD channels broadcast in 1080i...and I assume most of those 720's will eventually upgrade too. I do think having 1080p for your Blurays, Playstations etc is worth it, especially if you plan to keep the tv around for 5-10 years. If the TV was under 32" I would say 720 is fine....otherwise why bother buying a tv technology that's getting old just to save a couple hundred bucks?
