We decided on Chitzen Itza because if I'm not mistaken, it has the biggest area of ruins, and also is the official one of the seven man made wonders of the world.
I've heard there are more "activities" to do at the others (Tulem etc.) |
Problem with the Itza ruins is your exhausted from the trip into the middle of the jungle, another place thats fun is the Edsna ruins at Campeche made famous for Mel Gibsons film "Apocalypto". Massive temple and if you close your eyes you can see the heads bouncing down the stairs.
(assuming you have seen the flick) but thats a real long trip from Cancun.
