This year I opted to spend the cash on FIFA 10, and I haven't played FIFA in years. It feels very fresh and I think it'll get a lot more of my playing time than NHL 10 ever would have.

I somewhat agree. I got Madden 07 and then skipped out on 08 and 09, and now Madden 10 feels totally different and much better. With NHL I have 08, 09, and 10 and they don't feel
that different from each other. OTP is basically the exact same except the passing is much worse, and barely anyone uses Board Play. I like a lot of the realistic touches and the new goalie animations, but it doesn't justify a $70 purchase IMO. Only reason why I keep getting them is I play online a lot and the community always moves with the newer game.
And they need to change the stick lift and pokecheck for NHL 11. Make it almost completely useless. I have someguys who will stick lift me successfully about 97% of the time on their first try, and about 28 times in one game. It gets to the point of "why bother playing the game?".
