To get around the poke check usage they really need an alex Burrows button. If the player tries to poke check you hit the button and do a spectacular dive with all of your equipment flying off.

If he tries a stick lift and you hit the Burrows button your head flings back, you toss your gloves and hit the ice while looking for a cut.
