Creatine isn't going to do harm to you, there are no clinical studies showing this at all so forget that fear mongering b.s. With that said do not take creatine, any differences you may notice will be negligible and it's not too cheap. Don't worry about buying whey protein either, unless you are in a rush and miss meals because of it.

Here is what you must do:

1. Forget all the gimmicky buzzword laden crap you've heard over the years. That includes everything related to fad diets, fad exercise products (bowflex etc.), supplements, and trend workouts (Usher does 1000 sit-ups a day, Brad Pitt worked out for 6 hours a day to prepare for Troy!).

2. Go to Costco and pick up 2 or 3 dozen eggs, a couple bulk packs of chicken breasts, some cod fillets, some beef, 8 litres of milk, a bunch of fruit and vegetables, and some bread. Again, forget all the gimmicky buzzword laden crap you've heard over the years pertaining to diet. Try to eat all this food as fast as possible, don't make yourself puke or anything, just eat a lot.

3. If you want your body to change you've got to force it to change. Get a membership at a gym that has lots of access to freeweights, that includes benches and squat racks. Or buy some equipment (all you need is weights, a bar, a bench and a squat rack).

4. Workout 3 times a week. Heavy! When I say heavy I mean heavy for you, not heavy for the bulkhead beside you. You'll start at a low weight to start with but if you stick with it you'll be lifting heavier weights before you know it. Base each of your workouts around a heavy compound movement like the Squat, Bench, Deadlift or Overhead press (these are what will make you grow). Do the isolation exercises like the bicep curls etc. last, remember you're trying to gain weight.

5. Don't be discouraged by what the scale says. Most adult males can realistically gain about 10 lbs of muscle in a year with proper diet and training. You'll hear people quoting how they gained 30-50 lbs of muscle when they started training, but most of that will be fat. Don't worry about what the scale says. Imagine 10lbs of steak sitting on a plate, that's quite a bit of bulk.

Eat lots. Train Hard. You will grow.
