The one account that I read, the guy was extremely lucky. For one, the perpetrator saw the phone owner and started running, obviously making him out to be the theif. But had he just remained calm there was no means for the victim to identify who in the area was the theif.
If I was to get MobileMe it would be to get an account that I *KNOW* will work with push e-mail. I still can't get it to work with Yahoo and I'm pretty sure it can't work with G-mail. But the tracking feature as theft prevention is a waste if you ask me.

Well with MobileMe you can passlock your iphone (no one can access it), wipe clean all data on your iphone, also put a message onto your iphone, perhaps say "This phone is lost call me at 555-5555". There's more features then just tracking it, to me that's good security for if my phone was ever stolen.
