I was in school once, and thought I was going to pass out while sitting back at my desk following a vaccination of some sort. I once actually fainted just from being in a hospital visiting someone.
Now with the reports of side effects hitting some people, it makes me even more worried to get the shot. And that's despite knowing I have asthma. I normally never get worried about things like this, but for some reason I am starting to get freaked out about the swine flu.

There is 3 million people in Canada that have asthma, lets use something like 1 in 10 for simplicity instead of 1 in 11, You are not alone in this.

Assume then 300,000 of them live in Alberta. If all 400 of the deaths were to have asthma then 400 out of 300,000 possible albertans would die. All it does is increase your risk, when they say you are a high risk for complications it is compared to the average person. This doesn't mean you will automatically croack if you contract h1n1/ This would also be for all flu virus including the seasonal virus. Asthma is the leading cause of the deaths I believe in h1n1 across north america however asthma is the leading chronic respitory disease in north america if I am not mistaken. I think I read somewhere that around 25% of h1n1 deaths are related to asthma. Lets assume that that number is correct. That would equal 100 deaths in Alberta that have h1n1 with asthma. I read that they are assuming 875,000 albertans will get h1n1 so thats 87,500 with asthma for example. 100 into 87,500 very low odds.
This just means that if you get h1n1 and for some reason have trouble breathing get your ass to the er and tell them you have asthma, you will most likely be bumped ahead of the average person. People who think it will pass are the ones that may not make it out alive.
Come down, get the shot and enjoy your life. When we are 65 we can complain about how the seasonal flu is going to kill us.
