If you can't afford to go to bars, then stay home. It's not a riddle. Getting drunk or going to a bar is not is not something you need to do, it's something you WANT to do. Get the priorities straight and you will have more money. I don't make good money by any stretch, but I don't go to bars and clubs,.....maybe once every 3-4 months and I get by just fine.

This is not meant at a shot at you, it's more just a generalization.

I don't get your reasoning though. We're not talking about people who go to a pub and order nothing but wings and drink water or nurse 1 beer over the course of a 3 hour football game.

I am not required to spend ANY money at a club or hockey game. Both of these places are not strictly drinking places. Sure most people at both drink but lots of people go to a club just to dance. If I've paid cover I feel I'm under no obligation to spend another penny.

As for a pub I think there is a fine line. I usually feel guilty if I don't spend more than $10 for myself at a pub. Nothing worse than people who just sit there and drink water for 3 hours while watching a hockey game and the other person with them has to rack up a bill. A pub is NOT an establishment where you can just hang out guilt free. If you are using up a table you should be spending at least a little bit of money, especially if you are there watching a sporting event.

If you just stop off for a beer after work I don't think there is a minimum limit but that isn't what we are talking about here.

I just don't see your reasoning to why people are a)cheap and b) obligated to spend money at places that don't require you to do so. Seems really elitist that you feel everyone should spend a ton of money whenever they go anywhere.

I don't like cheap people as much as the next guy but there is a HUGE, and IMO a difference that you are failing to recognize, between not spending a lot and being cheap.

By your reasoning I can't get drunk and go to a Flames game, even though I pay a decent price for my tickets. Well, what about eating at a Flames game? Or even a pub?

If I attend these events am I obligated under your weird system of cheapness to purchase food? Or am I a cheap ahole if I eat at home before I go?
