At least three Calgary vaccination clinics have stopped accepting H1N1 vaccine recipients after they were overwhelmed by public response.

The Richmond, Avenida and Brentwood clinics began turning away poeple this morning after they were swamped on the fifth day of the vaccination campaign.

The demand for H1N1 vaccinations was so great on Friday that all five clinics in Calgary have closed their lines.


The first line was closed at the Richmond Road Diagnostic Treatment Centre.

Between 2,000 and 3,000 people were already lined up at that mass vaccination clinic by 10 a.m.


Alberta Health Services says that's enough people to take them right to the end of the day which is why they closed the line.
