With the Heat and this ridiculous schedule, I think this year is a major experiment for both the league and the owners. It's obvious that the team is at a geographical disadvantage to the other Eastern teams and is pretty isolated from the rest of the League. Because of which this 'baseball' type schedule is a bit of a necessity for the Heat.
But after this year (most likely two years) of experiment there are two real out comes.
1) The first is that the team flops and it turns out that it's not feasible to keep the team in Abbotsford (even with the travel subsidy) and the team moves east again...or at least closer to Texas.
2) It turns out to be a decent success and struggling teams in the East shift towards to the west coast making one or two more viable options in the area to help reduce the travel issues.
It's an unfortunate reality of the Heat. My hope is that things turn around in Abbotsford and outcome #2 occurs.
