I think the problem was that some RTT posters treated other threats like RTT, and would just keep playing the same inside jokes (some that weren't even that funny in the first place)... a lot of time, just to boost their thanks. Its easier to get thanks for saying something outrageous or one liners that have nothing to do with anything than an actual good post (hockey on FOI, or else in the OT).
Its too bad cause of the short stories, rants or whathave you. I guess there's always twitter. I also think for a large portion of CP, it brought respect because as you talk to other posters in a fun sense, you see posters as real people and you're less likely to go postal on them in something emotional... that comes with being a sports fan.
