I received an upgraded laptop from work on Thursday with 7 on it. So far, it's an operating system. It's got some interesting looks and a couple of features which are kind of neat. For example I think I'm warming to how they changed the toolbar where I can just pin application to it instead of having a separate toolbar to launch apps. The Mac people might go "pffft, we've had that for years" (I have no idea, I don't Mac) but it's new to me.
Under the hood I think 7 is improved a bunch. I liken Vista to Windows ME. Both whiffed as an O/S and seem to both be followed up by a good O/S.
For the Mac argument, it'll always be there and while I think it's good lots of good things but by no means do I think it's fantastically better than Windows. They both have their places. The Apple ads do seem very Pepsi to Microsoft's Coke to me though and lots of the "arguments" in the ads don't hold true to me. If you like your Mac O/S, great. If you like Windows, great. Too much breathe is spent discussing them and too much hang wringing goes on over the comparisons.
