It's really not for everyone. If you don't like seeing people getting butchered in new an inventive ways, you won't like the movies. For people like me, it's not only the elaborate traps that are appealing, it's the multi layered and complex story that continues from one movie to the next.

It's way more than the "torture porn" that it has been labelled as. If this makes any sense, it's a "thinking persons' horror movie. I know how stupid that sounds, but it's very true. It's more than a slasher movie, and there's no supernatural force that can't be stopped.
