But that's what the flu vaccine does...it preps your immune system with a dead virus so if you come into contact with the live virus your immune has a very good chance at blocking it without the risk of getting sick and/or transmitting the virus to other people. Also the flu changes every year so if you get the shot (or not) or the actual flu this season it won't provide you with any immunity for next years strain.



Also the flu is one of those words that people use all the time incorrectly. 24 hour flu doesn't exist. When people are sick for a day or two it's almost a guarantee that they don't have the flu (most of the time). The flu is in your system for around 2 weeks. You won't just miss one day of work. Ask Transplant, it wasn't easy on him. Of course it does effect people differently. Some get knocked on their butt, others not as bad, some need to be hooked up to ventilators and of course some die.
