i disagree about creating rivals. i think it does quite the opposite.

for instance, i was looking at abby's schedule in hopes of catching some road games in the midwest. but when i looked, they don't come to the midwest at all after xmas/new years. i realize they switched divisions, but its pretty tough to breed any sort of familiarity with teams when you don't see any of them the final 4 months of the season. i know some of that is poor scheduling, but spreading out the times you meet a team i think is better long term for the rivalry. sure when you do back to backs, it makes the 2nd game great, but then you don't see the team for a couple months, and all that is lost.
