Would you marry someone of a different religion? Race? Hockey Team Preference?
So my "buddy" was telling me how he would never marry a girl who wasn't a Christian, and it got me to thinking - if I was the marrying kind of guy, could I marry someone who wasn't a grimly materialistic liberal atheist (ha!) like myself?
I think I could manage someone who was religious in the sense of having a vague belief in a god or gods, but a full-blown believer would probably have me divorced or inside an asylum within a few years - especially if kids got involved. It would be like marrying the stone in your shoe. Is there anyone out in CP land who does have a spouse of a radically different religion?
I'm positive I wouldn't have a problem with marrying a black/asian/middle eastern/polynesian girl, though, as I've dated such in the past and find any kind of exotic look attractive. Yet, despite nobody *seeming* to care anymore than I do about dating outside the race, how many mixed marriages actually happen? Is it one of those issues where what we think we would do and what we actually do when the situation arises are completely different?
