Yeah, you are right, lots of these don't require living in Calgary at all.
I'd say you haven't lived in Calgary until you travel somewhere (I'm looking at you Eastern Canada), tell someone you are from Calgary and someone assumes you are a cowboy and that you hate everyone who isn't Albertan and want to separate.
The best part is then connecting with our fellow Canadians about how Americans think we are all Eskimos living in Igloos. They never see the irony of the situation either...
