The day after I graduated H.S. I was out of the folks home, moved to a foreign country and have had my own place since.
I did spend one summer a couple years back living with my mom, but I still had my own place in a different city.
I think there are certain situations that make living with the folks ok. One is being a student. I will always tell a young kid to go to a different city for school and live in the dorms first year, but if you really want to save money, staying in town and living with the folks is fine.
