Hearin those footsteps had me freaking out. You knew something huge was coming, but I was not expecting that. The vision of her just standing there is still with me. Awesome.



And no, I don't think any of that was real at all. From what I read, the director filmed the movie in this house that he lived in and he got the idea just from the creepy noises he would hear in the house. He put up 15k of his own money, filmed the flick in 6 days, then some higher ups including Spielberg saw it and fell in love with it and felt that it could become the next Blair Witch Project.

Pretty remarkable numbers for the first weekend in a semi wide release. 20 millions dollars in only 790 theatres, for an average of 26 thousand per theatre. That's 9 million more than the top 2 movies of the weekend combined.
