I'm actually kind of insulted that for all the hard work other Canadians have put into this country in the last 200 years that the only ones getting any props are the aboriginals.

Again, I have no problem with one of those things, especially the mascots, honoring our aboriginal people but if you were from another country (which surprise it is the Olympics and pretty much everyone will be) you'd think there are only aboriginal people here and somehow we are all descendants from them.
The "First Nations" people should be the one' getting the props!!!!

Every one of these other Canadians that you would like to give credit to all immigrated from a different culture. Of course we aren't descendants of the "First Nations" people (I believe aboriginal is a derrogatory (sp) term) we are descendants of Scottish, Irish, English, Indian, African, Welsh, Chinese, Japanese etc. etc etc.

How would it be possible to acknowledge each of the 100 or so different "cultures" that make up or nation.

I am as proud a canadian as anyone but your comment has a touch of ignorance and small mindedness. Everyone likes to pile on the First Nations people as having no contribution to our "Canadian" culture, when in fact over the past 200 years we have done our best to impose our different cultures on the real indigenous people while stifling theirs.
