Why do you have a facebook account?
Well I use Facebook for 3 primary reasons,
1. to get back in touch with old high school friends and see what they are up to.
2. photos, I've found a lot of great rock climbing routes since most of the people I add to my facebook are via rock climbing
3. post links, read interesting links, similar to that of CP
I don't post on other people's walls or status's, I don't really give useless status updates like "I'm going to do laundry now" ... I do check FB pretty frequently, but I never comment on anything or really post anything. I don't have any drama queens on my FB, so I don't get all the soap opera stuff most people here get.
My friends that I see every day, and my best friends back at home that I talk to all the time, I don't facebook them. Usually short FB "what are you up to" are with old friends that I don't talk to very often, but at times and catch up, but it doesn't really make sense to catch up over coffee or lunch since I spent 4 weeks a year back at home, and all of that I want to spend with my close friends or family.
What benefits does it bring to your life?
Well, as above, I find awsome rock climbing routes and get back in touch with old friends.
What harm does it being to your life?
None really. I don't use it frequently enough to be an addict. I'd rather break off CP (and I did for a month earlier) and I really would like to stop posting so much here, nothing against CP, its just a waste of time... sort of like now.
How much time do you spend on facebook?
20 sec a day x 5 = 100 sec, so under 2 minutes.
How much would your life be impacted if you deleted your account today?
None

Well, the OT forum especially is a form of social networking.
The main reason I'm here is to talk Flames hockey, but I found especially since 2005 that all topics end up coming to the same point. If you have a minority opinion, some CPer will freak out, and go whine in the OT forum about it and probably try to be like fotze or 4x4 and go to an overused "punch you in the face" comment (which is really funny, I bet most of the people here who say it haven't punched someone since kindergarten)... when I first moved out of California, I was leaving a lot of friends and a girlfriend I dated for 2.5 years so CP was an awsome get away and I met a lot of people, but I don't know if I have enough reasons to stay at the moment.
Harm - lots, how much time depends on the day. If I deleted my account on CP... I probably wouldn't follow the Flames as much, but I'd be more efficient in getting work done.
