And that makes it any less BS, how? Because Spain got a gimmee draw against Slovakia?
Why is it BS? Because they have ALREADY seeded them. When do you stop?
Why don't we do it in S.Africa too then all the way to the final?
Instead of the 2nd round being 2nd place group X vs 1st group Y lets just seed them again based on FIFA rankings and have a another draw.
Do the same for the quarter finals, and then the semis.
Teams like Slovenia (that were in pot D for the first draw) have already been subjected to the seedings and have overcome it to get a 2nd spot in their group. Now, instead of getting a fair draw for earning their right to be there it is determined that they have a 50/50 chance of drawing France or Germany/Russia when those countries are guaranteed to avoid each other. And that's not BS?
In a nutshell all the teams that claim 2nd place in their group have all done so based on what FIFA deemed to be fair and equal groups at that time by their seeding the original groups into 6 pot. In other words they are all there on equal merit.

That's a completely different stage of the (completely new) tournament when it becomes global. As mentioned the European stage has ALREADY been seeded.
So, you're saying then it'll be ok to reseed them for the 2nd round of the tournament? That's what's happening here.
