I wonder what they would do if you got a 2nd plate (which I believe you can if you're willing to pay) and put it on the front of your vehicle, then backed in.
While I understand the City's point of view, I disagree that people should be forced to modify their behavior for the convenience of automated systems. Will it cost more to have some guy get out of his vehicle and check the plates of people who are backed in? Yes, but as always, efficiency should not be elevated to the status of holy writ that must be obeyed before all else.
